Mutant Crops

In a not so distant future, agrochemicals have become a normal practice. The mining industry created toxic wastes, combined to pollutionthey proved fatal to agriculture. Soon, the first mutated crops unleashed havoc. Water was no longer enough for them, they wanted a protein-rich, juicy steak dinner. We tried to give them our politicians instead of steak, but they just wouldn’t eat them it made them sick.
Though we were tough, not to be frightened by zombie potatoes. We learned to tame our mutated vegetables. The farming profession went from a peaceful activity to a very risky albeit lucrative profession. Those who can sow, water and feed the best crops will become rich.
